PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

It was my great pleasure this week to attend the HMAS Penguin Youth Leaders Forum on Wednesday 25th March with six Year 11 students. We participated in a number of activities and heard some outstanding presentations from high profile leaders including: Penguin Commander, Mike Hickey; Liberal Member, Rob Stokes; Warringah Mayor, Michael Reagan; educator, Dr. Mehrdad Baghai; cricketer, Michael Bevan; Rugby League identity, Wayne Pearce and Rear Admiral Jones.

The students were presented with many perspectives on leadership and came away from the day inspired by the range of speakers and their experiences in community, politics, the Navy, sport and life. We had some good conversations on the way back to school and the generous gift bag we all received provided some enjoyment on the return trip as well. The students will be sharing their experiences with the whole school at assembly next week.

Parents may be interested in attending our second School Development Day, which is scheduled for Tuesday 28th April. The first session will be devoted to boys' education strategies and the rest of the sessions will focus on introducing all the teachers to Positive Behaviour Engaging Learners (PBEL). Participants will have the opportunity to discuss the school's core values and expectations in the last session. Any parents who are interested in attending should let me know as soon as possible.

RELAY FOR LIFE

This weekend - 28th-29th March - we are participating in the Relay for Life, which is a fundraiser for the Cancer Council.  So many in our community are either directly, or indirectly, affected by cancer and so the decision was made to support this worthy charity. We will be at the Northern Harbour Relay at Gore Hill. If you would like to support the school team you can donate on-line  - any donation will be greatly received.
