It was my pleasure yesterday to attend the school Athletics Carnival. Even though the weather was quite threatening and we experienced one bout of heavy rain, the students conducted themselves in an exceptional manner. A large number of them participated in multiple events and performed at an incredibly high standard. The other pleasing aspect of the Athletics Carnival was the obvious enjoyment of the teachers running various events. There was a great deal of laughter and an air of fun, with teachers and students enjoying one another's company. Sport is obviously one of the strengths of our school.
Parents had an opportunity at the P & C meeting this week to meet Cathy Moran, the Regional PBEL Consultant, who is supporting us with the implementation of Positive Behaviour Engaging Learners. Our community has identified the core values of the school, "Respect, Responsibility and Personal Best" and the school-wide expectations that support those values. We will be working this term to develop a plan to ensure that those expectations are explicitly taught within the school and that they are displayed in the playground and in classrooms.
Visitors to the school will notice some refurbishment work in progress. Work has started on some of the brick retaining walls that were damaged by tree roots and shortly work will commence on the gym and in other areas of the school. We have set a goal to substantially improve the buildings and grounds to raise the standard of the learning environment for our students. We have a beautiful campus here, we just need to enhance and maintain it.
