It is my great pleasure to introduce myself to The Forest High School community. I am honoured at being appointed Principal to the school and I would like to thank the community for the warm welcome I have received. The Forest has an excellent reputation in the community and beyond. A number of people have told me that I am fortunate to be the Principal of a school with such an experienced, committed teaching staff and such motivated, enthusiastic students.
I would first like to thank and acknowledge Principal Peter Gillam and Deputy Principal Shane Molony for meeting with me and ensuring a smooth handover and I deeply appreciate the effort they put into leading the school. The Forest High School is a happy, settled school with an extremely positive school culture.
I have come to The Forest by way of the Central Coast. Prior to my appointment, I held the position of Deputy Principal at Wadalba Community School, a large K- 12 school. Before taking up the position at Wadalba, I worked in a number of Northern Beaches schools including Mosman High School, where I was Head Teacher - Teaching and Learning, Mackellar Girls High School and Beacon Hill Technology High School. Additionally, I worked at the Department's State Office for four years as Curriculum Adviser, Computers in Schools and Senior Project Officer Technology in Learning and Teaching.
My first task will be the development of the school's next three-year plan 2009 - 2011. The Deputy Principals, Shane Molony and our newly appointed Deputy, Jane Dean, and I have already begun to collect feedback from the staff, students, parents and community as to what we do well, where we can improve and how we will achieve our goals. Over the next three years our focus will be on improving the quality of teaching and learning at The Forest. We will be looking closely at maximising the academic, creative, sporting and vocational opportunities we provide for students. Our vision is the development of a strong community of schools offering a diverse, inclusive curriculum which ensures that there is an individual learning pathway for every student.
I am looking forward to meeting all of you in the near future.

Principal
