PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

Parent/Teacher Nights
It was great to see so many parents and caregivers attend the Parent/Teacher night for Years 8 and 11. I hope to see as many attend the next Parent/Teacher night for Years 9 and 10, scheduled for Tuesday 7th July. These evenings provide an opportunity for us to communicate and work collaboratively to achieve positive outcomes for all our students.

Congratulations to Year 11
It is an appropriate time to congratulate Year 11 on their success in the examinations and assessment tasks this semester. I had the pleasure of reading Year 11 reports and it was encouraging to notice the number of students who excel across many subjects. With only one term of the Preliminary Course left, we strongly recommend all Year 11 students continue a rigorous and consistent study routine to achieve their academic potential.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the students for their effort and achievement; parents for your support and staff for your dedication and encouragement.

Keeping kids active
With winter holidays fast approaching, here are some websites with great ideas for keeping kids healthy, active and away from the couch and computer games.

Reminder for School Development Day
Parents are invited to attend our Term 3 Development Day 27th July starting at 8:30 am in our school hall. The first part of the day will be attended by teachers from the Forest Learning Community. Parents should let me know if they wish to attend as this will assist with planning and catering for the day.

As the end of the Term approaches I would like to thank the staff for their hard work and the support they have provided to me this term. It has been a very productive time and as a team we have achieved a great deal. I wish all staff, students and our community a safe and happy holiday.

Rosemary McDowall
Principal

MULTICULTURAL CELEBRATIONS

On Thursday 9th July the school will celebrate cultural differences with an afternoon of food, activities and performances. After our highly successful day in 2007 the SRC is again planning a fun afternoon for the whole school. This year proceeds are targeted for a Bus Shelter within the school grounds so we won't get wet whilst waiting for the afternoon buses.

Please support the students on this afternoon by joining in the activities and donating to a wonderful addition to the school. There will be a traditional Aussie BBQ, Canadian treats - including pancakes and maple syrup and ice cream, Japanese delicacies, the famous obstacle course, karaoke and a few new surprise activities. Our talented art students will be face painting images of other cultures and Maths will once again host a French Cafe. The afternoon will finish with a performance in the hall.

Join in next Thursday - last time we held this day everybody talked about it for a long time after. It is a regular school day, lessons will be held in the morning and Year 12 need to be at school as Trials are fast approaching.

The SRC thanks everybody for getting involved in the initial planning.

HEAD LICE

All parents need to be aware that head lice has been reported at the school.  Please check your child's scalp/hair and treat before sending back to school.
