PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

We are currently planning for a bigger and better school for 2009. I can now announce that Mrs Jane Dean from Willoughby Girls High School has been appointed as the new Deputy Principal of TFHS for 2009. Next week I will be able to announce the new Head Teacher Administration.  In addition, I am working towards appointing three new classroom teachers plus a new Head Teacher Mathematics.

Congratulations

The results of the 'Australia My Country Competition' (organised by the RSL) have been announced and I am proud to announce that Lauren Schilg was awarded 2nd Prize in Section 11 of the State judging... an outstanding result. Lauren receives a substantial cheque and a certificate.

Merit Certificates were awarded to

Joshua Hill

Casper Lemming

Georgia Scheffers, and

Laura Nealon.

Congratulations to these five students and also all those who participated.

Mr Peter Gillam - Principal.

SURF SURVIVAL - YEAR 7 - DATE CHANGE

Please be advised that the date for Surf Survival, at Collaroy Beach, for swim school has changed from 2nd December to 16th December 2008. The other two dates at Manly Swim Centre remain the same, the 11th and 12th of December.

A reminder that students are requested to pay their $70.00 which covers all activities, bus hire and pool entry as well as certificates, by the 24th November, to the cashier’s office. All students are expected to attend these worthwhile activities, as it is a compulsory aspect of the PDHPE curriculum.

Students need to bring swimwear, towel, hat, sunscreen, plenty of water and protective clothing (for hot or cold weather) and a pen.  A pair of swimming goggles is advisable but not compulsory.  Students will also need to swim in clothes and will be advised of these requirements later.

A T-shirt or rash vest must be worn at all times during swimming activities.

Students will be required to wear school sports uniform to and from the pool each day.

Please note:  Students who do not comply with school or pool rules will not participate in swim school activities.

IMPORTANT P&C ANNOUNCEMENT AND CELEBRATION!!!

Our next meeting is to be held on Wednesday 12th November and you’re invited to join us as we have a tour of the new canteen and pop a bottle of bubbly to celebrate.

We also have a very important vote that needs to take place. Our constitution desperately needs to be updated and in order to do that, the constitution as it currently stands, requires 50 people present to vote for any changes to the constitution. As you can appreciate, this is not workable as we don’t get 50 people to a meeting…..until now…..I hope! I am asking if you could make an extraordinary effort to come to this next meeting, EVEN FOR JUST THE FIRST 30 MINUTES, to assist us with this situation so that your P&C can be more effective in the future. Please see the agenda below for the notice of motion.
We also want to show off our fabulous new canteen….you won’t recognize it!

Agenda for 12/11/08
7.15 Meet in the Library.
7.30 Vote on the motion that…’the number of members required to vote at a General meeting of the P&C, in order to effect change to the constitution, be 15’.
7.40 Tour of the canteen.
8.00 Return to library for remainder of meeting.
9.30 Meeting finished.

I thank you in advance for your support…..we need and appreciate it!

Yours Sincerely
Pam O’Flaherty
P&C President
