PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

I'm very pleased to report that both the Year 12 Formal and the Year 10 Formal were very well attended and the school received numerous positive remarks about the behaviour of our students and their maturity.

Year 12 organised their function at the IMAX in Darling Harbour and Year 10 chose the Manly Pacific Hotel. The latter coincided with the Year 10 formal of Bally Boys HS but the venue was easily able to cope with, and separate, the crowd.

Congratulations to the students and the teachers (led by Mrs Steed).

The Musical ("A Broadway Bungle") was a great success and I would like to thank the following people...

Producer                                       Laurie Cavill

Director                                        Kim Ahearn

Assistant Director/Choreographer     Samantha Parkinson

Costume Designer/Maker                Wendy Higgins

Assistant Costume Maker                Toni Howard

Set design                                    Myra Tustian

Set Construction                           Graeme Smith/Helen Brussolo

Hair                                             Pam O'Flaherty

Refreshments                                Kerry Podlogar

Mackenzie family for technical support.

The visit by Chiba Keiai Senior High School from Japan was most enjoyable for everyone. Thanks to Kerry Podlogar and her helpers plus the Forest students who proved super friendly during this cultural exchange.

Orientation Day saw approximately 120 bright-eyed students attend TFHS ready for entry into the exciting world of Year 7 in 2009. Year Adviser, Samantha Combes did a fine job in organising the day and the feedback is that the students were very impressed with the day.

REMINDER: The Forest Carnival will take place on the Oval next Friday from 2pm and the P&C hopes to raise enough money to refurbish the student toilets in 2009. Don't forget to buy some tickets in the raffle for a brand new TOYOTA... only $2 each. The car will be on display on the Oval during this event.

Mr Peter Gillam - Principal.

2009 CAR RAFFLE FUNDRAISER

The Forest High School P&C Association

Frenchs Forest Road, Frenchs Forest 2086

Phone:  9451-5111
9451-2553
Fax:  9975-3293

Drawn: Monday March 30th, 2009

The ONLY fundraiser for 2009 will be our Car Raffle. Each student will be given a book of 10 tickets to sell for $2 each.

The top 10 students to sell the most tickets will receive a voucher for           Luna Park.

Every student that sells at least one full book will go into the draw for a Digital Camera.

There will be other prizes to be announced early next year, so get selling now so you do not miss out.

The more you sell, the more you win.

Place ticket stubs and money in an envelope and put in the locked box at the office.

Our target for 2009 is to sell 20,000 tickets which will give the school around $35,000.00 to spend on much needed projects such as the new toilet block, so every ticket you sell is a drop in the dunny……

So let’s get together & make this happen - every ticket helps & every ticket is a winner!!!

Regards

Forest High P&C

SUPPLYING ALCOHOL TO PEOPLE UNDER 18 CAMPAIGN

The Pittwater Community Drug Action Team in partnership with Manly, Pittwater and Warringah Councils, Northern Beaches Health Promotion and Manly Drug Education and Counselling Centre are working together to address the issue of ‘secondary supply of alcohol’.

The Northern Beaches Supply Means Supply campaign will be highly promoted over the summer holiday period and will target parents and the broader community. The awareness-raising message will be extended via cinema advertising, resource promotion and distribution in liquor outlets and schools, and press releases in the Manly Daily.

The supply campaign is to increase awareness on the issue of adults supplying alcohol to a minor, whether it be their sibling or any other person under the age of 18yrs.

The following messages will be advertised:   please click on the following link to view campaign
