PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

Important Date

Wednesday 10 December, 7:30pm. There will be an event under cover of the new Covered Outdoor Learning Area (COLA) to officially open the new facility plus the Canteen upgrade and the Solar and Water initiatives. All these projects have been made possible with the assistance of $150,000 from the Commonwealth Government Investing in Our Schools Program.

This night coincides with our last P&C meeting for the year and will be a good time to reflect on all the efforts of so many people that have improved The Forest High School facilities for our students.

There will be some speeches, light refreshments and music on the night.

HSC

The final exams have been progressing well for our Year 12 students with no major surprises to my knowledge... in fact the comments from students and staff have been about how 'fair' the papers have been.

I realise these exams are not just pressure for students and I'm sure we all wish the entire family well during this process!

Interview Panels

Mr Molony is organising training for Interview Panels and our community members are vital elements of the panels. I very much appreciate the work our community members do in this regard. Please consider being on a panel as we will have a number of new staff to be selected for 2009.

Mr Peter Gillam - Principal.

IMPORTANT P&C ANNOUNCEMENT AND CELEBRATION!!!

Our next meeting is to be held on Wednesday 12th November and you’re invited to join us as we have a tour of the new canteen and pop a bottle of bubbly to celebrate.

We also have a very important vote that needs to take place. Our constitution desperately needs to be updated and in order to do that, the constitution as it currently stands, requires 50 people present to vote for any changes to the constitution. As you can appreciate, this is not workable as we don’t get 50 people to a meeting…..until now…..I hope! I am asking if you could make an extraordinary effort to come to this next meeting, EVEN FOR JUST THE FIRST 30 MINUTES, to assist us with this situation so that your P&C can be more effective in the future. Please see the agenda below for the notice of motion.
We also want to show off our fabulous new canteen….you won’t recognize it!

Agenda for 12/11/08
7.15 Meet in the Library.
7.30 Vote on the motion that…’the number of members required to vote at a General meeting of the P&C, in order to effect change to the constitution, be 15’.
7.40 Tour of the canteen.
8.00 Return to library for remainder of meeting.
9.30 Meeting finished.

I thank you in advance for your support…..we need and appreciate it!

Yours Sincerely
Pam O’Flaherty
P&C President

YOUTH LINX

YouthLinx service is an early intervention program, funded by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations and Warringah Council.  The service has been operating in the Northern Beaches area for over 15 years and it is based at Warringah Council's Youth Service.

As well as the ongoing YouthLinx groups the YouthLinx Family Support Program provides the following community education presentation, open to all parents with a child aged 11-16:

*  Speaker's Night - free information session.  professionals will give information to parents of young people, on issues that have been identified as being of concern to them.
