Careers newsletter

Welcome to the last newsletter for term 3, 2008 (careers newsletter)

Welcome to the last newsletter for the term. I wish all our year 12 students all the best.  I hope you all get what you are aiming for, but if not, please don't panic.  Just contact me and I will find a way to help you. You can email me on christopher.mansell@education.nsw.gov.au

Year 10 students are reminded that work experience IS compulsory and your report will reflect if you have not completed it. The deadline for ALL paperwork is 3pm on 7th November 2008 (end of week 4) NO APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THIS TIME AND YOUR REPORT WILL SHOW NON-COMPLETION. I hope all students can find something interesting, rather than leave it to the last minute and end up somewhere boring. Students and parents are reminded that unless there are exceptional circumstances, students will not be allowed to do work experience with their families.

The School Certificate exams are due to be held week 5, term 4. All year 10 students are then expected to continue to attend school. Week 6 is work experience week and week 7 is the careers and crossroads week, week 8 is peer support and swimschool. Crossroads is a compulsory program for students intending to attend years 11 and 12 and the careers week is compulsory for all year 10 students anyway. There will be a charge for all year 10 students of approximately $38 (price to be confirmed).  This is a subsidised charge to pay for a motivational movie, dance lessons, a Bugmobile show, a business concierge and other costs TBA.  If anyone is in genuine financial difficulty, please call Mr Mansell to discuss.

Parents are encouraged to contact me with any questions or suggestions. I can be reached on christopher.mansell@education.nsw.gov.au

Whilst every effort is made to ensure information is accurate, I strongly suggest contacting the relevant institutions to confirm any details.
